Ernest A. Hood, age 80 of Clarkson Valley, Mo., died on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 and he was baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection. He was born on June 16, 1928 in Pilot Point, Texas. 

He was the beloved husband for 54 years of Dolores June Hood (nee Wiesehan); dear father of Byron Dirk Hood of Cahone, Colorado, Janice K. Eppright (Dr. Thomas Eppright, M.D.) of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Michael J. Hood (Phyllis Winter Hood) of Fairhope, Alabama, B. Jill Meyer (Timothy Meyer) of Ballwin, Mo. and Clarence Theodore Hood, II of St. Charles, Mo.; dear grandfather of Samuel Jeb Hood, Margaret A. Eppright, Charles S. Eppright, II, Michael John Hood, Meredith A. Hood, Anna C. Hood, and Henry B. Meyer; dear brother of Lucille Wood (late Edward Wood), Mary Wind (Robin Wind) and the late John D. Hood; special uncle of Bruce Alan Rouse; dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Mr. Hood was the owner of Hoodco, Inc. which operates discount stores located in five states. He served our country in the Army and was wounded during the Korean War. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org). 

Funeral on Saturday, August 16, 1 p.m. at BAUMANN COLONIAL CHAPEL, 2504 Woodson Road, Overland, Mo. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. Visitation on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m.
