Mr. Francis M. McCrory, 93, died Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the Maple Grove Lodge in Louisiana, Missouri. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. Father Doyle will officiate. Burial will be at the Corinth Cemetery near Clarksville, Missouri. Visitation will be held from to 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, at Collier Funeral Home.
Frank was the son of the late Lawrence and Jeanette McCrory, was born January 5, 1919 in Oklahoma. He married Martha Patricia Murphy on April 15th, 1950 and were married until her passing on October 28th, 1995.
Survivors include three sons, John McCrory and wife Marilyn, Mike McCrory and wife Karen, Matthew McCrory and wife Lisa of Clarksville: seven Grandchildren, Matt McCrory and wife Lauren of Troy, Taylor Preston of Bowling Green, Paige McCrory of Clarksville, Sean McCrory of Clarksville, Katie McCrory of Clarksville, Kelsey Stribling and husband Jimmy of Clarksville, Brendon Picone of Pittsfield. Step grandsons Gary Beer and Kenny Beer of Eolia and five great-grandchildren: two brothers, Gene McCrory of Dallas, Texas and Edward McCrory of Battle Creek, Michigan and one sister, Sue Manning of Springfield, Missouri.
Frank joined the US Army Air Force in January of 1941 and spent three and a half years overseas in Karachi, India (now Pakistan) and was discharge as a Sergeant in the Air Force in 1945 after serving more than four and a half years in the service.
After returning home he attended the University of Missouri-Columbia on his GI Bill and graduated with a BS in Animal Husbandry. There Frank met his future wife Patricia Murphy.
Frank worked as a Veteran Welding Instructor several years and also taught Vocational Agriculture. Frank and Pat than moved to Clarksville, Missouri and started farming and continued farming until he retired at 80. The family was always very proud of their Registered Shorthorn herd which was started in the 1940’s by Dr. John Murphy (Pat’s Father). Frank was very community minded serving on the Pike County Extension Council, Farm Bureau Director, 4-H Leader and received Honorary Chapter FFA Degrees from the Bowling Green, Louisiana and Clopton FFA Chapters. He was very involved in American Legion Post #349 and received his 50 year Membership Award last April. He was very proud to be a Veteran and to have been able to serve his country.
Pallbearers will be Bob Rucker, Davey Robinson, Bob Elder, Sean McCrory, Matt McCrory, and John Seward.
