Lt. Commander United States Navy Retired Stanley Allen Isaacks Jr., 88, passed away Monday, May 10, 2010 in his home. He was born October 30, 1921 in Atchison, Kansas to Stanley Isaacks, Sr. and Barbara Ann Bennett Isaacks of Alma.
Stanley graduated from Alma High School and the University of Arkansas where he received two degrees. He also attended Harvard University, the University of North Carolina, and Tulane University. He was a C.P.A. and retired as Chief Auditor from the U.S. Treasury Department. After retirement he returned to Fort Smith where he spent the remainder of his life.
He was a 32nd degree mason, a member of First United Methodist Church, the Builder’s Sunday School Class, and Hardscrabble Country Club. He was an avid golfer, world traveler, and a gold master duplicate bridge player.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at First United Methodist Church Roebuck Chapel with burial at The U.S. National Cemetery with honors under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years Violet; two daughters: Christine and her husband Dr. Bob Reilly of New Hope, Pennsylvania ; Sarah and her husband Mike Hite of Duncan, Oklahoma; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two brothers James and Eugene Isaacks.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Builders Sunday School Class, Warren Blaylock, Mayor Ray Baker, and Col. Joe Knox.
Family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.
