Leola Marie Tinsley passed away Sunday, January 30 in Corsicana after suffering a serious stroke on Monday, January 25. She was 89 and lived at home until the time of her death.
She was born December 9, 1921, in Mayfield, Texas to William James Waters Harper and Fleta Jane Harper. She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. She married Leroy Tinsley, also of Hillsboro, on August 3, 1940 and moved to Corsicana in 1945. They raised three sons, Richard Tinsley, Billy Tinsley and Tommy Tinsley. She was active in PTA and the Band Parents Association. Leola loved her family, her friends and First Baptist, Corsicana where she taught pre-school children for over thirty years. She worked with special needs children in the Corsicana ISD and served for nineteen years as a volunteer in the Corsicana Hospital. Her husband, Leroy, passed away in 1976.
Survivors include her brother, Ralph Harper of Greenville and her sister Mozelle Wooten of Hillsboro, sons Richard Tinsley of Houston, Bill Tinsley of Rockwall and Tom Tinsley in Hallsville. She has six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Viewing is scheduled for 9 AM to 5 PM Thursday, February 3rd at Griffin- Roughton Funeral Home. Visitation with the family is scheduled for 3-5 PM.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. on Monday, February 7th, at Griffin- Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. B.F. Risinger officiating. Rev. Larry Tolbert and Rev. Danny Reeves will assist. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana. Pallbearers include grandsons Jonathan Tinsley, Chris Tinsley, Collin Tinsley, Patrick Tinsley, grandson-in-law Noah Hutchison and nephew, Milton Seldomridge, Jr. Honorary palbearers are: Honorable Joe Michael Russell, Dr. Scott Middleton, Joe Bob Tekell, Kenneth Clark, Jerry Caton and Billy Lassiter.
