Tolbert Casey, resident of Fairfield, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at St. Lukes Hospital in Houston at the age of 79. He was born in Freestone County on February 19, 1932 to Talbert Casey and Velma Hughes Casey. He served his country in the United States Air Force serving in Korea during the Korean War. He owned Casey Chevrolet in Fairfield for 19 years.
Preceding him in death are his parents, sister Linda Hull, and brother Billy Casey. He is survived by his wife Jean Casey of Fairfield. Children: Steve Casey and wife Pam, Brenda Scott and husband Larry, Carla Casey, and Jeff Casey and wife Amber all of Fairfield. Fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Also there is a brother Donald Casey of Fairfield and two sisters, Lera Wren of Fairfield and Barbara Sartor of Teague and number of nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends.
Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday evening from 6 - 8pm at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3pm at the Round Prairie Baptist Church with Bro. Ed Ridge and Bro. Don Vail officiating. Musical arrangements selected by the family will be How Great Thou Art, Precious Memories, and Amazing Grace by soloist Steve Black and pianist Janet Sustaire. Pallbeares will be Grandsons: Justin Casey, Casey Morris, Kiel Casey, Blair Casey, Brent Scott, Blake Scott, Chance Casey, and Colten Casey. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Sanchez, Dr. Harold Moore, J.W. Johnson, Eddie Tarrant, Clois Smith, Vic Howell, Danny Kincade, Dr. J.H. Keller, Bryan Jordan, Wallace Neil Moore, Lloyd Benedict, and Roger McCrary. Burial will follow at the Fairfield Cemetery.
