Robert Paul Banks died peacefully at his home, in Corsicana on Sunday, January 15, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky on January 14, 1939 to Jesse and Helen (Nichols) Banks. The family moved to Decatur, Indiana in 1940. He attended Decatur High School and was an outstanding athlete in football and basketball. After graduating in 1956, he entered the Army. Upon discharge, he attended and graduated from Tennessee Tech. He returned to Decatur and coached and taught at Monmouth High School, Decatur Junior High and Southeast Elementary until 1981 when he and his family moved to Corsicana. He taught eight grade history until his retirement in 2002. He married Marsha Basham in 1998.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marsha; two children, Jennifer Threet and husband Ron of Rice and Michael Banks and wife Grace of Corsicana; step-children, William (Billy) Frick of Seattle, Washington, Missy Hawkins and husband Rick of Pine Mountain, Georgia, Beth Parker and husband David of Burleson, Wes Basham and wife Becki of Lufkin and Jon Basham and wife Rachel of Fort Hood, Killeen; eight grandchildren, Chelsea Townley, Tyler Spicer, Austin Peppers, Laura Basham, Carson Basham, Ethan Basham, Tristen Basham and Hayden Basham he is also survived by his beloved Shih Tzu Pepper.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 17th from 4-5pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be 10:00am Wednesday, January 18th at Oakwood Cemetery with Wes Basham officiating.
