CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – Maxwell Corey Wampler, 22, died Friday, November 12, 2010 in Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon, Virginia.
He was born in Abingdon, Virginia; son of the late Maxwell “Mackie” Wampler. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jerry Browning; paternal grandmother, Katherine L. Wampler; paternal great grandmother, Ruby G. Baker. He graduated from Castlewood High School Class of 2006; he attended Southwest Community College; he was a member of Sulpher Springs Methodist Church. Corey was a free spirit and he loved life and everybody.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Elaine and Jim Stanley of Castlewood, Virginia; maternal grandmother, Wilma Browning of Castlewood, Virginia; paternal grandfather, Bobby E. Wampler of Castlewood, Virginia; one step-brother, Brad Stanley and wife, Michelle, of Kingsport, Tennessee; special aunt, Patricia “Sissy” Helton of Lebanon, Virginia; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Maxwell Corey Wampler will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2010 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Darryl Baker and Rev. Gary Crum officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Tony Browning, Chris Browning, Allen Browning, David Helton, Jessee Austin, Justin Fraley, and Devin Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Uncles, Charlie “Buster” Browning, Wayne Browning, Greg Browning, Bob Browning, L.C. Browning, Darrell “Dirk” Browning, Gene Helton, and Bobby A. Wampler.
The family will receive friends form 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2010 in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia.
