CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – Turner A. Gilmer, Jr., 90, died Sunday, April 17, 2011 at his home in Castlewood, Virginia.
He was born in Dante, Virginia; son of the late Turner A., Sr. and Vera Eugenia Duff Gilmer. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII. He was a Russell County farmer and he attended Lakeview Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Gilmer; two daughters, Ellen Gilmer of Castlewood, Virginia and Mary Frances Wallace and husband, Sherman, of Lebanon, Virginia; two sons, Michael Alexander Gilmer and wife, Freda, of Martinsville, Virginia and Ashby Gilmer and wife, Rachel, of Castlewood, Virginia; one sister, Ellen Ames of Suffolk, Virginia; three grandchildren, Justin Stevens, Morgan Wallace, and Turner Gilmer, IV; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Turner A. Gilmer, Jr. will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in Lakeview Church, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Darryl Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Aston Family Cemetery, Castlewood, Virginia. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service. Pallbearers will be Tony Elam, Hubert L. Elam, W.B. Salyer, Carlos Nash, John Salyer, and Mike Bricky.
