David “Red” Blevins, age 54, of Abingdon, Virginia passed away on Friday, June 18, 2010 at his residence. He was a life long resident of Washington County, Virginia and was a graduate of Holston High School in 1975. He was a truck driver and was preceded in death by three brothers, Ricky Blevins, Walter Paul Blevins Jr., and Randy A. Blevins.
He is survived by his mother, Gay Blevins of Damascus, Virginia; his father, Paul Blevins of Meadowview, Virginia; three sisters, Teresa Rolen of Lexington Park, Maryland, Jane Widener of Damascus, Virginia, and Lisa Stinson of Orange Park, Florida; one brother, Don Blevins of Meadowview, Virginia; several nieces and nephews and one special great nephew, Braxton Blevins.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 21, 2010 at the graveside at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Virginia with Rev. Gary Ritchie officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff Hockett, Jimmy Fuller, Danny Boone, Don Blevins, Tim Manuel, and Lee Shrewsberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Shrewsberry and Eddie Shrewsberry. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Garrett Funeral Home.
