Franklin Sherwood Mason, 82, of Bristol, Tennessee, died Saturday, August 2, 2008 at James H. Quillen V.A. Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee. He was born on August 30, 1925 in Sullivan County to the late James and Virginia Myers Mason. He was a retired United States Army veteran having served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Mr. Mason was the owner of Jones & Mason Builders and later retired from the Civil Service. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Colleene Malone Mason of the home; daughters, Virginia Myers and her husband Karl, Sherry Oliver, Lee Wood and her husband Mike, and Eleanor Spruill and her husband George; sons, Franklin S. Mason, Jr. and his wife Linda, and Wesley Alex Mason and his wife Beth; grandchildren, Helen Lee Oliver, Joshua Myers and his wife Leslie, Mandy Wood, Christine Goucher, Jon Paul Mason, Amber Turner, Jesse Myers, Michael Spruill, Benjamin George Mason, Jennifer Goucher, Ashley Turner, Milly Oliver, Will Oliver, Madison Mason and Hannah Mason; and great-grandchildren, Oliver Myers and Lacey Goucher.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:45 Tuesday evening at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8 o’clock in the Paul Cook Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Jeremiah Richards officiating. The committal and interment service will be held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning in Mountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tennessee. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
