Arthur Banks, 85, of Bristol, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at his home. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II stationed in Eniwetok in the South Pacific. He attended Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, and was certified as a dental technician. He was a long time resident of Bristol, moving to Tennessee in 1962 from Norton, Virginia. He was the owner operator of Twentieth Century Dental Laboratory in Bristol until 1986 when he retired and later opened Banks Dental Lab. Mr. Banks was an avid golfer known by many in the Bristol area. He was a member of Addilynn Memorial United Methodist Church of Bristol, Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Banks, Bristol; three sons, Greg Banks, Bluff City, James Banks Jr., Evarts, Kentucky and David Banks, Lexington, Kentucky; grandchildren, Sara Bowman and her son Tyler, Chattanooga, Tennessee; Michael, Michaela and Christina Banks, Suffolk, Virginia; sister Mildred McGuire and her husband Jim, Bellevue, Michigan; two stepdaughters Ruth Fuqua and her husband Bill, Mount Juliet, Tennessee, and Marty Acevido, her husband Michael and their children Dallas and Malorie and grandson Riley, Oceanside, California; stepson Jeff Glover, his wife Malia and their children Jeffrey and Jamie, Antioch, California. He was preceded in death by two sons Michael Banks and Chris Banks and a daughter, Jennifer Bowman.
A memorial service will be held at 5 o’clock Thursday afternoon, August 14, 2008, at Addilynn Memorial United Methodist Church, with the visitation from 4 until 4:50 prior to the service. Rev. Lloyd Jones will officiate.
