Ada Juanita Cannon Ward, age 82, of Banner Elk passed away on Sunday September 18, 2011 at Cannon Memorial Hospital.
A native of Avery County, she was born January 9, 1929 a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Amanda Parlier Cannon.
She was a member of Elk Valley Baptist Church and enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, baking and reading her bible. Ada was very graceful in her appearance and very focused in God's Word.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Howard S. Ward; brothers, Harley Cannon, Wayne Cannon; half brothers, Will Cannon, Ben Cannon, Gurney Cannon; sisters, Mary Nave, Roxie VanKoopman, Addie Laws; half sisters, Martha Parlier, Fannie Horney; granddaughter, Tina Louise Jones; grandson, Christopher Smith.
Ada has left to cherish her memory: her children, Betty L. Jones and husband Alfred of Johnson City, TN, Janie Jones and husband Jerry of Banner Elk, Harold Ward and wife Barbara of Newland, John Ward and wife Donna of Newland, Diana Gouge and husband Scott of Unicoi, TN, David Ward and wife Helen of Banner Elk; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Ada Juanita Cannon Ward will be conducted on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Elk Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Carver and Rev. Luther Carver officiating. Interment will follow in the Cannon Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 20th from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Elk Valley Baptist Church.
