Juanita Duncan Johnson, 70, of Newland, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Watauga Medical Center.
A native of Adrian, Mich., she was a daughter of the late Earl “Tex” and Doris Ansley Duncan. She was a member and the accordion player at Johnsons Chapel. She was a loving wife, mother and Nanny who enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Rosita Maria Kores.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Joe Johnson of the home; daughter, Jodie and Steve Turbyfill of Newland; sons, Mike and Cindy Johnson of Minneapolis, David and Jeanette Johnson of Newland; granddaughters, Tabby Brewer, Stephanie Clark, Melanie Turbyfill, Paige Johnson; grandsons, Joey Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Luke Johnson; great grandsons, Connor Johnson, Bode Brewer; step father, Lewis Keith Cammet of Clinton, Mich.
Funeral services for Nita Johnson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23 at the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with the Revs. Jim Shoupe and Bill Shoupe officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
