Karl “Dean” Greene, Sr., age70 of 1213 Burgie Street, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord, Friday, September 25, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Rufus Thomas and Mary Celia Lewis Greene. Mr. Greene was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and enjoyed his church family, fishing and camping. He was a retired employee of AFG after 34 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Cynthia Diane Greene, one brother, Bobby Ray Greene and two nephews, Larry Bell and Rick Greene. 

 

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Karl Thomas Greene, Jr. and Randall Scott and Melissa Greene, all of Knoxville, TN, one granddaughter, Whitney Bishop, Knoxville, TN, one sister, Betty Bell, Michigan, two nieces, Veleria White, Iowa and Susan Greene, Wisconsin, one nephew, Stephen Greene, Wisconsin. Several great nieces and great nephews also survive. 

 

The funeral service for Karl “Dean” Greene, Sr., will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2009 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Tim Tapp officiating. Music will be under the direction of Emilee Shook and Mary Lou O’Quinn. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are ask to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Robert H. “Bob” Chambers, Justin Carson, Danny Akers and others selected from friends. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to The Building fund of Immanuel Baptist Church, 205 Hunter Ave., Elizabethton, TN 37643. 

 

A special thank you goes out from Dean to Linda and Leo, Bob and Carol, Mary and Doug, Jake, Sissy, Manny, Larry and Holly, all of my friends and all of my church friends, friends I worked with for 34 years and my little 4-legged friend, Tequila, who brought me many hours of pleasure.
