Sue Shankle, 55, of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. She was the daughter of Thelma Williams Shankle of Elizabethton and the late William Shankle, Sr. She was born in Carter County. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Shankle, Jr.

Ms. Shankle was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. She was an avid reader and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Chris Shankle; a sister, Carol Harmon; two granddaughters, Bria Shankle and Amanda Shankle and her special friend since childhood, Pauline Harper, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Gathering of Remembrance Service for Ms. Shankle will be conducted on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Ron Sutton officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday prior to the service and at the residence at other times.
