Jessica "Jessi" Joanna Johnson, 17, of Johnson City , passed away on October 13, 2007 , as the result of an automobile accident. Born in Johnson City on July 30, 1990 , she was the beloved daughter of Shayne D. Johnson of Johnson City and J. David Johnson of Chuckey.
Jessi was a senior at Science Hill High School where she was a member of the Keyettes. She was a member of First Christian Church and taught Vacation Bible School this past summer. She previously attended Tusculum View in Greeneville as well as Towne Acres and Liberty Bell in Johnson City. While at Liberty Bell Middle School, she was a member of the Junior Varsity Cheerleading Squad. Jessi planned on attending ETSU for two years and then transferring to the University of Tennessee where she had aspirations of becoming an English teacher.
Jessi was a wonderful daughter who had a free spirit. A very unique, beautiful and one-of-a-kind young lady, Jessi enjoyed traveling and had fond memories of her trips to Paris, Puerto Rico, and seeing plays in New York City. When one saw Jessi, she was always wearing sunglasses. She was known for text messaging and humming.
Jessi was very caring, compassionate and loyal to her friends. She had a big heart and was sensitive to the needs of others. Her faith and her family were most important to her. Jessi's sisters were her closest friends; they were inseparable and loved spending time together.
She is survived by her mother, Shayne D. Johnson, Johnson City; father, J. David Johnson, Chuckey; two sisters & a brother-in-law: Regan G. & Dr. Michael Dube and Jordan Reece Johnson, all of Johnson City; her ten-week old niece, Lacey Rose Dube; her grandmother, Joan Milhorn, Johnson City; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her tremendously. Xavier Alexis Collazo was her special friend and the love of her life. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, JoJo Simmons of Florida and paternal grandparents, Joe and Ann Johnson of Chuckey.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at First Christian Church with Mr. Tim Wallingford, minister, officiating. A Committal Service and Entombment will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jared Hendrix, Cillian O'Sullivan, Daniel Clay, Leonel Collazo, Matt Langford, Lucio Diaz, Jay Demello, and Isaiah Dunn.
