Jerry Bruce Peters, 61, of Johnson City, passed away on January 23, 2008, after a very courageous, short-term battle with cancer. Born in Kingsport, he was the son of the late Otis and Florine Harley Peters.
Jerry was an employee of Snap-On Tools in Elizabethton. He was a member of Keystone Free Will Baptist Church. Spending time with his family and his sisters was most important to him. Mr. Peters enjoyed fishing, golf, hunting and old cars. He also enjoyed listening to gospel and bluegrass music.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Lee Peters of Johnson City; step-daughter: Jessica Thomas of Johnson City; son: Steve Peters of Bristol, VA; three sisters: Doris Haga and husband, Randall, of Bristol, Shirley Hicks and husband, Alan, of Bristol, Glenda Garvin and husband, Ronnie, of Charlotte, NC; niece: Heather Dutton and nephew Jason Haga.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 7:00 PM in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with Rev. Bill Greer and Pastor Nathan Jennings officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM prior to the service. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM in Washington County Memory Gardens. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 AM.
