Barbara Ann (Bennie) Horsley, 74, Johnson City, entered into rest, Friday, July 9, 2010 at her residence with her family at her side. A native of Portsmouth, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Amil J. and Dorothy Emmert Bennie. Barbara was a graduate of Clay High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Horsley’s life was guided by always believing you do things because it is the right thing to do, not for the fear of punishment or the reward. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and shopping. She was very passionate about her animals and making sure that they had the best care.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Joseph Scott Horsley and Stephen Todd Horsley.
Mrs. Horsley is survived by her loving husband of fifty five years, Ronald J. Horsley, of the home; daughters: Amy Bevins and husband Brian, Nikki Lenhart and husband Kurt; son: Ronald J. Horsley II and wife Christy; eleven grandchildren, Ronald J. Horsley III, Joey Horsley, Brendan Horsley, Tara Horsley, Tyler Bevins, Stephen Bevins, Kaitlin Bevins, Madison Lenhart, Kelsey Lenhart, Cameron Lenhart and Megan Lenhart; one great-grandchild, Gabriel Horsley; two special cats, Butch and Dennis; and her special friends, The Martindale Families. Numerous other special friends and family also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Barbara (Bennie) Horsley will be conducted at 7:00P.M., Monday, July 12, 2010 in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services with Reverend Margaret K. Zeller officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jena Collins. The family will welcome friends from 5:00 PM until service time in the funeral home chapel.
