Mama loved all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; and all of us thought she loved us the best of all because she made us all feel like we were the only one she loved, but she told us all that.
Lena Jones was born December 30, 1917 in Wilder, VA. She was the second oldest daughter of the late O.R. “Ralph” and Nevada Stidham Seaver. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Johnson City and taught Sunday school for several years. Lena was a member of the Ann King Sunday School and Circle #3. She loved the Lord, her church and her church family. Lena and her husband Bill were the owners of Lena’s Uniform Shops in Johnson City and Kingsport for over 30 years. She also worked for her brothers at Seaver’s Bakery for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty-five years, William T. “Bill” Jones Jr.; her daughter, Kathy Jones Carter; and her older brother, O.R. “Bud” Seaver.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, W.T. “Tommy” Jones III and wife Becky; her daughter and son-in-law, Dale and Pamela Fitzgerald, Limestone; all her special grandchildren, Bryon and Perla Jones, Tucson, AZ; Shontelle and Don Moore, Phoenix, AZ.; Dale Fitzgerald II, Kingsport, and Ryan and Jackie Fitzgerald, Jonesborough and special granddaughter, Donna Carter Smith and her husband Jeff, Johnson City, Jason and Melissa Shipley and Kelly and Chris Pace, SC.
Lena is also survived by great grandchildren, Storm and Jassmine Jones, Mika and Donavan Moore all of Arizona, Cailyn, Avery and Peyton Fitzgerald, all of Jonesborough , who were so happy their great grandmother visited with their church for a few weeks and Konan and Carson Shipley and William and Sydney Pace of SC.
Nene, as she was called by her grand children enjoyed buying Donnas’ prom dresses and all they did together as Donna was growing up.
Lena is also survived by three sisters; Wilma Graves and Betty Baker, both of Johnson City, and Mary Tislow, Terre Haute, IN; and her baby brother, Richard N. Seaver and his wife Joan, Johnson City; caregivers, Delta Buckingham, Tracy Cravens, and Jennie Johnson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family of Mrs. Jones will receive friends from 1-3 pm Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the residence, 1813 Waters Edge Drive, Johnson City and from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 8 pm Tuesday from the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services. Rev. Louis Imsande, Mr. Gerald Malcolm and Preacher Rick Roop will officiate. Interment and Graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at 10:00 am at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15am to go in procession to the cemetery.
