Rose Carpenter Silvers, age 106, of Silvers Hollow Road in Spruce Pine, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on May 8, 1903 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Dole Smith Carpenter. She was the wife of the late Dallas Silvers who passed away in 1981. She was preceded in death by two sons; Roy and Paul Silvers and three daughters; Maude Silvers, Grace Biddix and Jennie King. She was retired from the Carpenter-Phillips Mica Company and was a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
The funeral services for Mrs. Rose Silvers will be conducted on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The Rev’s. Ronnie Gouge and David Philbeck will officiate the services. Interment will be in the Silvers Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 at Webb Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rose Silvers is survived by four daughters; Bessie Smith of Spruce Pine; Wilma McMahan and husband, Jay of Spruce Pine; Louise Bishop and husband, Bobby of Burnsville; and Frances Prewitt and husband, Bill of Morganton; three sons; Perry Silves and wife Bonnie of Upperco, MD; L.D. Silvers and wife, Billie of Spruce Pine; and Charles Silvers and wife, Ellie of Spruce Pine; eighteen grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
