Lee Ray Biddix, age 83, of Fairy Avenue in Spruce, died Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Memorial Mission hospital in Asheville.
Born on April 5, 1928 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Byrd and Eva Jane McHone Biddix. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie McCloud Biddix; a son, Joe Gale Biddix; an infant son, Bobby Dale Biddix; and a grandson, Shane Colbath.
He attended the Berry Chapel Baptist Church. He played the guitar and banjo in the Thursday Night Special singing group at Brian Center in Spruce Pine and at the Yancey House and Brookside Health and Rehab for over twenty years.
Left to cherish his memories is his granddaughter; Shanna Webb and husband, Stan; great granddaughter Jasmine Biddix; grandsons; Chad Biddix, Evan Kelling and Riley Kelling; sisters; Cornell Robinson, Zeddie Burnette, and Vonell Lawing.
The funeral services for Mr. Lee Ray Biddix will be conducted on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 3:00 pm at the Berry Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Harold Grindstaff and Greg Burnette officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00 pm until the service hour. Interment will follow in the Grassy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
