The beautiful sweet life of Mrs. Ora Stamey Thompson Donnahoo peacefully returned to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Yancey House in Burnsville.
Born on May 24, 1920 in Mitchell County, NC; Ora was the daughter of the late Jeter and Bertie Young Stamey. She was also preceded in death by one sister, five brothers; and husbands, Ross Thompson and Charles Donnahoo.
Ora was a sweet and beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Sister. She was a dear and treasured friend to all who were blessed by spending time with her.
Ora was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine, where in earlier years she enjoyed participating in various ministries. She had been employed at both Robbins Mill and Henredon Furniture, Inc.
Ora leaves behind an inspiring legacy of a Christian life lovingly devoted to God and her family. Always ready to share her beautiful smile, twinkling eyes, and kind words, Ora found great joy in working in her garden and flowers, attending church and gospel singings, cooking, quilting, homemaking, being part of the Golden Age Singers ministry, and taking great pleasure in the blessings of simple everyday life with her beloved family and many friends. One of Ora’s most favorite memories was her visit to the Holy Land.
Left to honor and cherish her memory are her devoted children; son, R.J. Thompson and wife, Janey of Bakersville; and her daughter, Billie Jean Swink of Asheville. Ora was also proud of her three grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews and their families.
In accordance with Ora’s wishes, a private family service led by Rev. Larry Greene, celebrating her love of God, family, and friends and her life of faith and kindness will be held on Monday, May 28, 2012 at Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Interment will follow in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.
