Charlotte Theola Jacobson was born on June 25, 1918 to Peter and Nanna (Jacobson) Jacobson in Rolling Forks Twp., Pope County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Rolling Forks Lutheran Church by Rev. Beito. She attended school through the 8th grade. On June 5, 1946, she was united in marriage to Hurleigh Westrude at Rolling Forks Lutheran Church, with Rev. Rohne officiating. The couple lived and worked on Hurleigh's family's home place for 52 years. They moved to Brooten on November 1, 1997. Hurleigh passed away on July 17, 1998.
Charlotte was a member of South Lake Johanna Lutheran Church, where she was active in the ladies aid, and a member of the Senior Citizens organization in Brooten. Charlottte loved to visit and laugh with her friends in Brooten. She was out with her walker every day, regardless of the weather, to have coffee with her lady friends; then it was off to the Ka-de-shack for lunch with Hattie and sometimes to the bakery in the afternoon for more coffee and visiting. In her spare time she enjoyed doing word puzzles and embroidering dish towels and pillowcases, which she used as shower and wedding gifts for her nieces and nephews and sold to others. On October 26, 2007, Charlotte broke her hip. After a short hospitalization, she moved to Glenwood Retirement Village on November 2, 2007. Her goal was to get back to her apartment in Brooten, but sadly, that was not to be. On Sunday, March 2, 2008, Charlotte was admitted to Glacial Ridge Hospital, where she died 4 days later, with her 2 brothers and sisters-in-law by her side. She will be missed by many people.
Charlotte is survived by her two brothers, Abner (and Katherine) Jacobson and Harold (and Harriet) Jacobson, all of Glenwood, MN; many nieces and nephews as well as grand-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hurleigh; and nephew, Neil Thomas.
The family wishes to thank all of Charlotte's friends for their love and friendship over the years. It meant so much to Charlotte.
