She attended school in Rural School District No. 28. On November 15, 1938, she married Henry John Hanzlik. She and Henry farmed in Ben Wade Township until 1958 when they moved to Hoffman, MN, where they operated the Hoffman Theatre until 1961 when they purchased a resort on the north shore of Lake Minnewaska. They operated the resort until their retirement in 1972, when they purchased a home in Glenwood, MN. Henry passed away in June of 1974 and Bertha moved to Glen Haven Manor in the early 1980's, where she resided until just last month. She enjoyed her flower garden and strawberries and in her younger years she liked to bake and make lutefisk and lefse. She was also an avid fan of WCCO television.
Bertha is survived by her son, Bruce Hanzlik of Columbia Heights, MN; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry; 12 brothers and sisters and a daughter-in-law.
