MaryAnn Nordaune, age 76, of Glenwood, MN, died peacefully at her residence on Thursday, April 16, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 20th at Church of the Sacred Heart in Glenwood with Father Peter J. Kirchner officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 P.M and Parish Prayers will be at 7:45 P.M. There will also be visitation on Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Immaculate Cemetery, Sedan, MN. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
MaryAnn Terhaar, daughter of Joseph H. and Mary Ann (Halliday) Terhaar, was born on May 23, 1932, in Elrosa, MN. One of ten children, she was raised on a farm near Sedan, Minnesota and attended Sedan School. On August 30, 1949, MaryAnn was united in marriage to Alfred E. Nordaune at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sedan, MN. The couple lived in Morris and Clarkfield, Minnesota before moving to San Diego, California in 1955. MaryAnn and Alfred were blessed with six daughters, Marie, Kathleen, Josephine, Theresa, Bernadine and Rosemary. Following Alfred's retirement in 1973, the family moved back to Sedan, Minnesota and then to Glenwood, where MaryAnn was employed as a baker/dietary aid at the Glenwood Retirement Village for 28 years.
MaryAnn was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart in Glenwood. She loved spending time with family and friends. Her hobbies included playing the piano and accordion, baking and talking on the telephone. She also thoroughly enjoyed the time she spent working at Glenwood Retirement Village.
MaryAnn is survived by her daughters, Marie of Woodbury, MN, Kathleen of Hopkins, MN, Josephine (Rick) Davidson of Glenwood, MN, Theresa (Dan) Moody of Andover, MN, Bernadine (Paul) Gerde of Glenwood, MN and Rosemary of Chaska, MN; eight grandchildren, Ryan and Mark (fiancee' Jenny Weets) Davidson, Peder, Petra (fiance' Nathan Steinhofer) and John Gerde, Nathan Rooney, Christina and Brenden Moody; two great-grandsons, Ethan and Porter; and three brothers, Pat Terhaar of St. Cloud, MN, Raymond Terhaar of Maple Grove, MN and John Terhaar of Nowthen, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred in 2001; four brothers, Herman, Leo, Edmund and Charles; and two sisters, Viola Wittrock and Mildred Jensen.
