Sylvia M. LaCoe, age 70, of Glenwood, MN, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, MN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood, with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from Noon until 2:00 P.M. on the Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Starbuck. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
Sylvia Mae LaCoe, daughter of Lawrence David and Mildred Doris (Holten) LaCoe, was born on August 5, 1939, at Anchor Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Sylvia was the oldest granddaughter of Keo and Mae LaCoe of Glenwood. Over the years Sylvia lived in group homes in various locations, the most recent being in Hoffman and Glenwood.
Sylvia's hobbies included dancing, singing, cooking, coloring and listening to country music. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, rodeos and watching Animal Planet on television. She loved cats and especially kittens. She participated in the Adopt-a-Highway program and volunteered at the humane society. Her favorite memories were of trips she had taken to visit the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, her brother in California and a trip she took to Las Vegas.
Sylvia is survived by her mother, Mildred Holten Moberly of Blaine, MN; four sisters, Carol (Arne) Stoen of Starbuck, MN, Rita Kleven of Champlin, MN, Rhonda Johnson of Maple Lake, MN, Jackie Anderson of Coon Rapids, MN; three brothers, L. Dennis (Valta) LaCoe of Lapine Drive, OR, Richard Kleven of Anoka, MN, and Robert Kleven of Holly, MI; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents and her sister, Renee Pogue.
