Lloyd W. Ganske, age 96, of Glenwood, MN, died Monday, June 14, 2010, at Good Samaritan Society Glenwood Lakeview. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 18th at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Villard with Father Andrew Marthaler officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 -7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home in Glenwood and resume on Friday at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Villard, MN. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
Lloyd W. Ganske, son of Edwin and Clara (Wendt) Ganske, was born on January 17, 1914, in Villard, MN. In his early years he helped work his parents' farm just outside Villard. On July 30, 1940, he was united in marriage to Albena Bryce. They migrated to White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, in 1950, where Lloyd worked for the United States Government as a mechanic. After Lloyd retired in 1972, he and Albena divided their time between Cloudcroft, New Mexico, and The Salton Sea, California. In 1998, they returned to Minnesota just prior to Albena's death. Lloyd continued to reside in Minnesota until the time of his death on June 14, 2010, at Good Samaritan Society Glenwood Lakeview. He will be buried next to his wife of 57 years at Calvary Cemetery, Villard, MN. Lloyd was baptized, confirmed, married, and now buried at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Villard.
Lloyd is survived by his two daughters, Yvonne (James) Ganske Adams of Elizabethton, Tennessee, and Maureen (Robert) Ganske Elliott of Villard, MN; four grandchildren, Karen Adams (Tim Gubitz), Clara (Douglas) Adams Veal, Robert Elliott II and Ronald E. Elliott; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Adams-Kennedy and Lauren Rosalia Veal; one brother, Wayne Wendall Ganske of Villard, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, and in 1998, his wife, Albena.
