Mae Lokken, age 97, of Glenwood, MN, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at Lakeview Good Samaritan Center in Glenwood. A memorial service celebrating Mae's life will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 11:00 A.M. at the Union United Presbyterian Church in Brooten, with CLP Kathy Terpstra officiating. Inurnment will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, Brooten. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Brooten, MN.
Mae A. Lokken was born May 27, 1913 in Clara City, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Martin and Annie (Nube) Ritzema. Mae attended school in Sedan, MN and was a graduate of Brooten High School.
On March 17, 1933, she was united in marriage to Carl Lokken. The couple made their home in Brooten. Mae and Carl shared 45 years of marriage before Carl passed away in September of 1978.
Mae was employed by Nelson-Eagen Produce a number of years and worked at the Home Bakery in Brooten for over 22 years. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and was also on the cemetery board. Mae enjoyed her family, being outdoors with flowers, yard and garden.
Mae is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Nick) Law of St. Croix Falls, WI; grandson, Bradley Sharratt of Minneapolis, MN and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, husband, 2 sisters, Minnie Torgerson, Bette Larson; 4 brothers, Upke Ritzema, Bill McDermond, Richard McDermond and Jim McDermond and her grandson, Timothy.
Memorials are preferred to Lakeview Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Glenwood.
