Gary Fauskee, age 53 of Games Lake, New London, MN died unexpectedly on July 23, 2011 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis after a fall at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 28th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten with Pastor Bryant Kaden officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home in Brooten and will resume on Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Brooten. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Brooten.
Gary Leon Fauskee was born in Glenwood, MN, on December 18, 1957 to Dale and Joanne (Imsdahl) Fauskee. He was baptized and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. Gary grew up in Brooten, attending Brooten elementary and high school, graduating in 1976. While in school he was involved in music and sports and also contributed his many talents to numerous other activities. He loved baseball and played on the Bonanza Valley Voice team in the summer months. After high school, Gary continued his education by attending Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, before transferring to Dana College, Blair Nebraska, where he graduated with a degree in business administration in 1980. He was a member of the baseball teams at both colleges and received the most valuable player award as pitcher.
Gary began his career in business working for Con Agra in Omaha, Nebraska, and was later transferred to St. Louis, Missouri and Evansville, Indiana, before opening and managing grain operations for Con Agra in Portland. Oregon. In 1985, he was transferred to the company's Minneapolis branch of Peavey Grain Co. as controller of operations.
On July 2, 1988, Gary was united in marriage to Ingrid Longe at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. They were blessed with two sons, Justin and Austin, and the family made their home in Maple Grove, MN. They traveled on weekends to their lake home by Games Lake, rural New London, and later moved there permanently. Gary and his family attended East Norway Lake Lutheran Church, where he served on several committees and assisted with youth activities when his boys were younger.
In 2002, Gary joined his father, Dale, and his brother, Randy, at Fauskee Oil Company, the family business, located in Brooten. After Dale's death in 2010, Gary and Randy continued to operate the business.
Gary was an admirable man, well known to so many. He loved his hometown of Brooten and enjoyed his daily visits with customers, friends and whomever he met. He loved his family and friends and always extended a warm welcome for gatherings at his home. He touched so many lives with his caring and concern for others. He will be deeply missed.
Gary is survived by his sons, Justin and Austin, of Alto, New Mexico; his mother, Joanne, of Brooten, MN; sisters, Monica Brede and Melanie (Brent) Dekok, also of Brooten, MN; and his brother, Randy (Jane) Fauskee of Lake Scandi, Glenwood, MN; 3 nieces, 5 nephews and special friend, Sandy Anderson; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dale, in 2010; grandparents, Menvil and Mabel Imsdahl and Albert and Marie Fauskee; aunts, Doris and Faye Fauskee; and a cousin, David Throndrud.
