Dorothy Murphy, age 86, of Lake Amelia, MN, died Wednesday, August 9th, at Good Samaritan Lutheran Center, Glenwood, MN, following a series of strokes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Monday, August 14, 2006, at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, Villard, MN. Interment will be Monday afternoon in the Russell Community Cemetery, Russell, MN. The wake service will be Sunday, August 13th, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home, Glenwood, MN.
Dorothy, daughter of Martin N. and Grace (Johnson) Peterson, was born and raised in the Russell, MN area and graduated from high school there. She and her husband, John, lived in the Russell and Marshall area before moving to Lake Amelia in 1977. Dorothy was well known for her warm hospitality, kind personality and her famous chocolate chip cookies. She and her little dog, Tasha, were well known in her neighborhood. She volunteered for 18 years at the Lakeview Good Samaritan Center.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John (1988); son, Tom; sisters, Esther and Marie; brothers, Marlowe, Raymond and Roland. She is survived by her daughters, Judith (Bill) and Joy; sons, Gary and Dennis (Colleen); 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Lakeview Good Samaritan Center in Glenwood.
