GLENWOOD - Merlyn W. Rittenour, age 74, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 9, 2006, at Glenwood Lutheran Church with Rev. Randy Chrissis officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial to follow in Our Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, Benson, Minnesota. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Merlyn was born October 9, 1931, in Montevideo to Norman and Alta (Himley) Rittenour. He graduated from Benson High School in 1950 and served in the Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War. He married Jean Klucas on July 5, 1952 at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Benson. In 1959 Merlyn received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota College of Agriculture. Merlyn worked as an inspector for Insurance Services Organization for many years. He and Jean resided in the Minneapolis area for 45 years before moving to Glenwood in 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Rittenour of Glenwood; daughters, Laurie (Roger) Younker of Blaine and Lynn (Eldon) Getting of Fulda; 6 grandchildren, Reed, Kyle and Ann Younker and Molli, Jalen and Nathan Getting; sister, Florine (Phil) Iverslie of New London; brothers, Bob (Judy) of Scandinavian Lake and Mark (Jeane) of Benson.
Merlyn was preceded in death by his parents.
