Raymond Joseph Blom, the son of Bernard and Barbara (Fank) Blom, was born on May 5, 1915 near Dolliver, IA. He grew up on a farm near Dolliver and later moved to Newfolden, MN, and then to the Estherville, IA area. On August 30, 1934, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Brockmann at Fairmont, MN. Together they had 9 children and farmed in Rolling Green Township until moving to Kensington in 1958. Gertrude died on June 21, 1980. This past summer Ray sold his farm and moved to Holly Ridge Manor in Starbuck.
He is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Charles) Reigel of Sherburn, MN, and Sharon (Ralph) Klemm of Doran, MN; four sons, Donald (Marvel) Blom of Hutchinson, MN, Dennis Blom of Glenwood, MN, James Blom of St. Louis Park, MN, and Richard Blom of Breckenridge, MN; 26 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Marian (Vernon) San of Apache Junction, AZ; one brother, Ben (Alice) Blom of Welcome, MN; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gertrude; three sons, Larry Blom, Roger Blom and Michael Blom; one grandson; one great-grandson; four daughters-in-law, Evelyn Blom, Delores Blom, Diane Blom, and Sherrie Blom; three sisters, Helen Petersen, Rosie Nielson, Carolyn Goeman; four brothers, John Blom, Robert Blom, August Blom and Lloyd Blom; and other relatives.
