Carol A. LaMay was born to Howard and Martha (Brown) LaMay on December 14, 1935, in Springfield, MA. When she was still a child her family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she attended school. On October 30, 1954 Carol was united in marriage to Arlen Hayhurst in Minneapolis. They lived in Bloomington, MN until 1966, when they moved to Swift Falls, MN. Carol was first and foremost a homemaker, but she did work at the Meadow Lane Nursing Home in Benson for 10 years. She loved children and in addition to raising four of her own, she raised one of her nieces and approximately 45 foster children.
Carol was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She will be remembered by her family and friends as someone who enjoyed cleaning house and cooking, having been especially known for her famous spaghetti. Carol had been a resident at Glenwood Retirement Village since 2001.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Arlen of Swift Falls; sons, Michael Langford (special friend Deb Bartz) of Benson, Charles (Claudia) Langford of Benson; Greg (Cindy) Hayhurst of Willmar; daughter, Kelly (Allen) Crabb of Benson; grand children, Amber Langford (fiance' Wesley Brown), Alisha (Dale) Molden, Lindsey Crabb, Charnelle Hayhurst, Evan Hayhurst, Laura Crabb, Dakota Valero, Samantha Hayhurst and Alex Hayhurst; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Molden, Jyderian West, Abby Langford, Kiarra Hayhurst, Austin Molden; niece, Baan Jean (Steve) Nelson of Starbuck; and her brother-in-law, Robert (Diane) Hayhurst.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Russell Dokkebakken and great-granddaughter, Amanda Baker.
