Grace Irene (Chapman) Karlson was born July 26, 1926, a daughter of ten children, to Owen T. and Elizabeth May (Sterret) Chapman in Lewis, WI. She graduated with the class of 1945 from Frederic High School.
Grace Chapman and Arthur Franklin Karlson were married on August 16, 1944. As a homemaker she used her talents in quilting, sewing, and ceramics. She also had a cherished doll collection. She enjoyed time spent with her family and caring for her loving pet “Angel”.
Grace passed away on April 28, 2012 at the St. Cloud Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur; parents Owen and Elizabeth; son Frankie; brothers Walter, Owen, Kenny, Fred, Joe, and Marvin; and sisters Velma, Viola, and Lyla.
Surviving Grace are her son David (Bev) of Minneapolis; daughters Lyla (Greg) Larson of Woodbury, Linda (Chris) Parslow of Nevis, and Lori (Wally) Gedde of Wadena; and 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren & 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 PM on May 2, 2012 at the Zion Free Lutheran Church in Wadena with Pastor Santiago Gomezcoello presiding. Pallbearers were Mike Taylor, Jerry Karlson, David Karlson, Jr., Tyrone Triebenbach, Steve Hessel and Kevin Gedde. Inurnment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
