Marvin Philo Blake was born March 19, 1919 in Superior, Iowa. His parents were the late Philo and Edna (Houser) Blake. On February 12, 1944 Marvin was united in marriage with Virginia Giles in Lincoln, Nebraska. Marvin served his country in the European Theater from 1941 to 1945 as a sergeant in the Army Air Force. Upon an honorable discharge, he and Virginia moved to Perham, Minnesota and in 1950, made Leaf Lake Township their permanent home. They operated a dairy and grain farm. Marvin was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and son, Donald.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Virginia, children: Sandra (Richard) Voge, Tucson, AZ, SusAnn (Larry) Gulsvig, Wadena, MN, Steven Blake, Ottertail, MN, David (Brenda) Blake, Laporte, CO, Deborah (Charles) Beldo, Sebeka, MN, 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren
