Sanford Walter Anderson was born on February 7, 1922 in Forest City, Iowa. His parents were the late Selmer and Tilda (Woege) Anderson. Sam grew up on the family farm in rural Forest City, Iowa. In 1936, the Anderson Family moved to Grand Meadow, Minnesota where they continued to farm for five years and then moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sam did not move to Wisconsin, he made his home in Grand Meadow where he was employed with the Stier Family. He farmed with 3 generations of the Stier family, where he was considered a family member as Sam was always included in the Stier Family reunions. Sam enjoyed morning coffee, breakfast and even had his 90th birthday celebrated at The Diner in Grand Meadow. He and his long-time friend and companion Florence Sorum, worked together painting houses, barns and many other structures in the area. Sam loved to take walks and always had a smile, wave or even a little wiggle for everyone he met!
Proceeding Sanford in death were his parents; sisters: Martha Belknap, Charlotte (Jennings) Nessa, and special friend Florence Sorum.
Sanford is survived by his sister, Ruby Gronseth, brother, Wilford (Helen) Anderson and Hubert (Nancy) Anderson; along with many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Sam will be dearly missed by all who knew him!
