Cathryn "Cathy" Lee Prins was born on September 30, 1949, in Windom, Minnesota to the late Curtis M. and Elizabeth (Langland) Harrington. She received her education in the Windom Public Schools; graduating in the Class of 1967. She went on to advance her education at Minnesota State University-Marshall, Minnesota (formerly known as Southwest State University) where she graduated in 1971.
On July 1, 1972, Cathy was united in marriage to Richard Dean Prins in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom. This marriage was blessed with two children, Jennifer and Joshua. In 1975, Cathy began work for the Minnesota Department of Vocational Rehabilitation Services where she was their lead secretary. Cathy retired in 2002 due to health concerns after twenty-eight dedicated years of work. After her retirement, she lived in Hampton, Minnesota before moving to Windom in 2004. For sometime, Cathy's health had been declining and she fought her battle courageously until passing away and going home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the age of 58 years.
Cathy was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom. She enjoyed many things in life and will be remembered as an avid supporter of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, her love of reading, sewing, cooking, her great ideas and generosity, her good taste while shopping for others, but most of all, for her love of her family, friends and our Lord.
Cathy's dedicated family who mourns her loss includes her two children, Jennifer Prins of Windom; Joshua Prins of Burnsville; mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Harrington of Windom; former husband, Richard Prins of Roseville brothers and sisters, Jeanette Harrington of Iowa City, IA; Stephen Harrington and wife, Ann, of Duluth; Michael Harrington and wife, Darelyn, of Storden; Betsy Morse and husband, Stan, of Riceville, IA; Mary Thompson and husband, Malon, of Windom; Karen Owen and husband, Robert, of Forest Lake; Teresa Grothe and husband, Paul of Rosemount; Kristin Soderman and husband, Terry, of West Valley City, UT; twenty-two nieces and nephews; and one great-niece and one great-nephew.
Cathy is preceded in death by her father; and two nephews, Josiah Harrington and Jacob Soderman.
