STALLINGS, Mr. Kevin Demetrius - Age 39, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011. Family hour 12Noon Saturday, May 28, 2011 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 1 p.m. Eld. Kenneth L. Stewart, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw Street. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12Noon Saturday. Mr. Stallings will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon - 8p.m. Friday with family present from 4-8 p.m.
Mr. Kevin Demetrius Stallings, “Fat Cat” was born December 22, 1971 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Karen L. (Stallings) and Raymond L. Felder. Kevin was a member of House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Northwestern High School, “Class of 1990,” there he played baseball, wrestled, played in the band and was a varsity football player #39. Kevin went on to attend Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI, where he also played football #99. He graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Business Administration. Kevin was currently working on his Master’s Degree in Counseling at Eastern Michigan University. Kevin had many positions over his career, but always had employment helping people as a social worker. He was currently employed at Common Ground as a Crisis Interventionist. Kevin was always encouraging young people, he never met a stranger. He was proud of his hometown and loved being a “Flintstone.”
Mr. Kevin Stallings leaves to cherish his memory: high school sweetheart and wife of 11 years, Rhonda Stallings; parents, Karen (Stallings) and Raymond L. Felder; brother, Tremaine L. Felder; grandmother, Lilly Stallings; mother-in-law, Bobbie L. Henderson; father-in-law, Albert (Loretta) Henderson of Birmingham, AL; sisters-in-law, Malinda Henderson Walker, Kimberlee (Jimmy) Taylor and Markitwia Turner of Birmingham, AL; brothers-in-law, Albert C. Henderson III of Birmingham, AL and Maurice Turner of El Paso, TX; aunts, Ramona Forte, Pauline Jones and Deborah (James) Hemphill; uncles, Roger Stallings, Jr., Officer Vincent Stallings and Reginald (Lisa) Stallings, all of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special nephews, Omoj Henderson Sanders and Michael L. Walker II; special cousin, Andre Stallings; special friends, Kaunda Finley, Eric Jones, Jamie and Matt Davis, Stacy and James Cords, Yolanda Lemmer, Rob Gillman; wonderful neighbors of Chandler Street and the Steven Princinsky Family.
Mr. Stallings was preceded in death by his brother, Darian A. Stallings; grandfather, Roger Stallings, Sr.; great-grandmother, Carrie McIntyre; aunt, Dianna Perryman; cousins, Clinton Reed and Ashton S. Ragland; and brother-in-law, Michael Walker.
