POPLAR, Mr. Harold D. - Age 57, passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, with funeral service commencing immediately at 2 p.m. Pastor Benny Stribling officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Friday. Mr. Poplar will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12-8 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Harold Delano “Lane” Poplar was born August 22, 1954 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Henry Poplar and Callie Mae (Carr) Poplar. Harold was baptized in his early childhood at New Zion Baptist Church under the pastorate of Doctor W.G. Terry. Delano was known by many as “Lane.” “Lane” attended Flint Public Schools, then started employment with Chevrolet Truck and Bus Assembly, retiring with 32 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 598. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he had a very close relationship with, friends, and dog, Max. “Lane” loved watching the daily news and sport events. He made his transition peacefully with his family at his bedside. “Lane” will truly be missed by all of his loved ones.
