TAYLOR, Ms. Latrena C. - Age 46, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center. Family Hour 10 a.m. Saturday June 30, 2012 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 4805 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Dr. Henry Fuller, Jr., officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Ms. Taylor will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home., 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12-8 p.m. Friday with family present from 5-7 p.m.
Ms. Latrena Charlette Taylor was born September 1, 1965, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Ernestine) Taylor. She attended Flint Public Schools and graduated from Northern High School, “Class of 1983.” Latrena accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Nurses’ Ministry. She was also employed at Mt. Calvary and as a home health care aide for a number of years. Latrena was known for her amazing sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with her godchildren and her family.
Ms. Latrena Charlette Taylor leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: devoted parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Ernestine) Taylor; loving sister, Tameika Taylor; special nephew, Reginald Brown; grandmother, Mrs. Mattie W. Taylor; 2 goddaughters, Sharonda (Dante) Jennings and Kenosha Gatewood; god-grandchildren, Zamariea, Deonta, NaRiyah, JaRiyah, and Mashya; 11 uncles, Sammie (Delores), Johnnie (Sherry), Tommy (Tamitha), Willie (Shelia), Lee Roy (Meco) Taylor, all of Flint, MI, Ray (Margo) Taylor of Southfield, MI, Larry Taylor of Atlanta, GA, Bennie Southward of Corinth, MS, Bobbie (Vicki) and Ricky Southward, all of Luka, MS, and Arthur Thompson of Lima, OH; 11 aunts, Osie (Oscar) Johnson, Cellie Harris, Hattie, Shellie, Connie, Shirley Taylor, all of Flint, Martha (Wade) Deloach of Columbus, MS, Martha (Harry) Bonds of Louisville, TX, Shirley (Edward) Sullivan of Cherokee, AL, Denise Thompson of Atlanta, GA, and Helen Blair of Tishomingo, MS; a host of other relatives, including loving cousins, Shawn (Donnie) Merriweather, Monica (Joe) Brand, Akilah (Micah) Shamly, LaToya (Ricky) Oglesby, LaTavia Odom and Allan Harris; special friends, Margo Jones-Owens, April Kelly, Debra Brady, Karen Davis, Barbara Davis, Diane Johnson, Marilyn Fuller, Carolyn Deloach, Faye Starling, Carolyn Spight, Bettie Green, Mary Johnson, Joyce Louis, John Motley Sr., Ray Amerson and family and the Jones, Bowie, and Sykes families.
Ms. Taylor was preceded in death by grandparents, Charles (Louise) Thompson, Velma (L.C.) Southward, Callie Owens and Harvie Taylor, Sr.; uncles, Charlie Thompson, Harvie, Jr. and Jimmie Taylor; aunt, Margaret Taylor; cousins, Henry Harris, Fatima Crooms, Candace Sullivan and Lamar Black Jr.
