GREER, Ms. Charlenne T. - Age 73, of Haltom City, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at North Hills Hospital in North Richland Hills, Texas. Memorial Service will be held on Saturdy, July 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Fellowship Chapel, 7707 W. Outer Drive, Detroit, MI.
Ms. Charlenne T. Greer was born to Arnold and Gloria Greer, on December 29, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Holly High School in 1953, and worked for the United States Postal Service in Flint, Michigan for 20+ years before retiring in 1986. She then moved to Jackson, Michigan and opened a home to care for the elderly. She did this until following her children to Texas in July 2000. Her love for people was infectious, her wisdom was God-given, and her giving was IN THE MOMENT. She had a personality bigger than life and made an impression on all she met.
She was the dedicated mother of four children. Her favorite saying was “I did it my way.” Her favorite pass-time was shopping . . . and more than that THE DEAL. She could make a dollar hollar! She loved to read and was long on advice. Her ability to solve the most complex situation with the simplest of solutions was uncanny; yet, it was probably her trademark. She loved everybody, unless she didn’t, and if she didn’t; you knew it. But a simple “I’m Sorry” could heal most situations, if you were smart enough to say it and mean it.
Ms. Charlenne T. Greer leaves to cherish her memory: her four children; Major Horton of La Jolla, CA, Gloria (Glenn) Harold, of NRH, TX, Vincent (Pring) Greer, of Atlanta, GA, and Malika Ali of Gig Harbor, WA; grandchildren; Myles Harold and Maya Harold of NRH, TX, Amina Ali, Major Ali, and Nadira Ali of Gig Harbor, WA, Sydney Horton and Kai Horton of La Jolla, CA, and William Greer and Bryant Christian Greer of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Arnold Greer of Pittsburgh, CA and William (Rachel) Greer of Holly, MI; her aunt and very best friend, Connie Davis of Detroit, MI; a host of other family and friends survive. Charlenne will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Ms. Greer was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Greer and her mother, Gloria Greer.
