Our Mother, Mrs. Leola Foster passed away into eternal rest on 2 July 2012. She was received in eternal peace with the blessing of having lived 94 wonderful years. Mother Foster led a full life and often talked about the many blessings afforded to her and her family. She departed this life with the blessed assurance that heaven would be her eternal home. There is no doubt that the life of Leola Foster exemplifies the manner in which a Christian professes to live his or her life and is justly rewarded. Having received Christ at a young age Mother Foster was a faithful servant whose life’s activities centered on helping others. Mother Foster was born January 11, 1918 in Dallas County Alabama to Joshua and Elvira Hollins. She attended public school in rural Alabama and never achieved more than a high school education. However that never deterred Leola and the way in which she approached life. She was always an independent woman who believed in hard work and family first. There was never a time in which she would not come to the aid of a person in need. She received Christ at an early age and was ever faithful. Mother Foster was a member of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother’s Board. Mother Foster worked for Armour Packing House for 33 Years in Omaha, Nebraska. Mother Foster was an excellent cook and one of her favorite pastimes was preparing greens for family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Sarah L. Howard and Dorothy M. Johnson both of Flint; six grandchildren, Palmer (Maggie) Walker of San Antonio, TX, Deborah Howard, Flint, Don Walker Sr., Dana (Kym) Howard, Cheryl Johnson, Kevin (Kimberly) Howard, Richard (Amy) Johnson, all of Flint; 18 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Irene Curb of Flint, Ethel Roper of Selma, Alabama and Deloris Lee of Omaha, Nebraska.
Mother Foster was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters.
The family would like to express special thanks to Visiting Nurse, Shannon Bryon.
