ADAMS, Mr. Hollis - Age 89, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012 at McLaren Hospice. Family hour 10:30a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11a.m., Pastor James E. Kennedy officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30a.m. Friday. Mr. Adams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12Noon-8p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Hollis Adams was born July 28, 1922 in Hope, Arkansas, the son of John Adams and Hester Adams (Whitmore). Hollis was a resident of Flint, Michigan since 1968. He was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Hollis was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942 and discharged in 1945 also serving in Europe. In 1946, he married Annie L. Coleman. In 1949 Hollis reenlisted in into the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1968. He moved to Flint, Michigan and began working for General Motors Chevrolet Manufacturing, retiring in 1982 and was a member of UAW Local 659. Hollis loved to fish and fix old cars.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Annie Lee (Coleman) Adams of Flint; daughter, Annice L. (Adams) Longoria of Griffith, IN; son, Michael L. Adams of Flint; 2 grandchildren, Manuel and Adam Longoria, both of Griffith, IN; many nieces, nephews, aunts, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers; and 3 sisters.
