She was born on June 6, 1945 in Alliance, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Aria Jones, the sixth of eleven children. As a child and adult, she was the one that gave the family and anyone she met, comfort with food (she was an excellent cook) and laughter, for she was a compassionate person. She was nicknamed “Bob the Builder” for she could tear down and build up anything while decorating. Although her illness took a lot out of her, she remained one of the strongest, most resilient woman we have ever known. Helen attended Alliance Public Schools and in 1973 relocated to Flint, Michigan. She accepted Christ and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the Leadership of Rev. H.B. Dixon, Pastor Emeritus; later moving her membership to New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church. She worked various jobs in Alliance and Flint and she retired from Fisher Body Grand Blanc, a division of General Motors.
Helen cherished in life and leaves to cherish her memories, four loyal and devoted children; Mary Ann (Larry)Boone, Tiffany (Richard) Boone of Flint, Chester Boone of Columbus, OH and Otis (Latoya) Curry Jr. of Flint; 10 grandchildren, Ferrer Boone of Alliance, OH, Landis Crawford, Bre’Ana Banks, Drelon Curry, Jurnee Curry, Sha’kera Banks, Jaylen and Jayla Lee of Flint, Jordan and Malik Davis of Seattle, WA; 7 sisters, Mary Thurmond, Willie Mae Jones, Connie Jones, and Bobbie Stewart of Alliance, OH, Marilyn Cooper of Akron, OH, Viola Oaks-Carpenter of Grand Rapids, MI and Catherine Jones of Flint; sisters by choice, Bettie Johnson, Mary Clark and the “Golden Girls” of Flint; 2 brothers, Jerry Jones of Alliance, OH and Clifford (Denise) Jones of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

The physical body, we’ll touch no more, but her spirit among us will live forever in our hearts for she enjoyed life and had a real talent for showing the rest of the world how it is done.
