SWAN, Mrs. Shirley Anne (Moore) - Age 73, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. Family hour 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Swan will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 Noon.-8 p.m. Monday.
Mrs. Shirley Anne (Moore) Swan was born May 21, 1939 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of John C. and Mary Ann Moore. Mrs. Swan attended Fairview Elementary School, Lowell Junior High graduating from Central High School. She also attended Mott Community College. Shirley worked at AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors Corporation retiring after 30 years of service and a member of the UAW Local 651. She truly loved the Lord and accepted Christ Jesus in her life at an early age and united with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Pastor’s Aid Ministry and Mother’s Board Ministry. She later moved her membership to the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church where Kenneth L. Stewart is the Pastor. Mrs. Swan was a faithful member of the Deaconess Ministry and an active member of the Missionary Ministry. Shirley was a very creative and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She loved to cook, sew and was an excellent interior designer.
Mrs. Swan leaves to cherish in memory: a devoted son, Michael Moore; granddaughter, Micole Miller; great-grandson, Jaysaun Miller; three brothers, James Moore, William (Elvira) Moore, and Minister Kenneth “Chubby” Moore; Special nieces, Delilah Thompson, Tanya (Melvin) Lewis, Vikki Thompson, Linda (Melvin) Hamilton and Marketa Moore; devoted nephew, Lawrence Moore; nephews, Darwin (Rose) Moore, Wesley (Linda) Moore, Luther (Alaska) Moore, Eric (Shelly) Thompson, Arnold Moore, James (Darwin) Moore, and John Moore adopted daughter, Dr. Charlene Austin; special friends, Mr. Willie Swan, Mrs. Bernadine Duckett, Mrs. Betty Smiley, Mrs. Aaron Coulter and Mr. Tom Bell; a host of friends from Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church.
Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Sedric A. Stone; parents; Mr. & Mrs. John and Mary Moore; grandparents; brothers, Robert C. Moore, Rev. Lawrence T. Moore, Sr., King Moore, and Hiram Moore; sister, Elaine D. Thompson; numerous loving nephews, nieces and friends.
