STINNETT, Ms. Wanda "Kay" Age 55, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Jackson Memorial Temple Church of God In Christ, G-3155 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12 Noon. Bishop H.J. Williams officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Ms. Stinnett will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 1:00 p.m-8:00 p.m. Friday.
Ms. Wanda Stinnett “Kaye” was born in March 31, 1957 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Cleveland and Mary Lee Stinnett. She grew up in Flint and graduated from Northwestern High School in 1975. Wanda also graduated from Baker College and attended Pilgrim Temple Church Of God In Christ (now Jackson Memorial Temple Church Of God In Christ) where she sang in the Mass Choir and the District Choir. On July 24, 2012 she accepted Christ as her Personal Savior under the guidance of Elder George Coulter. Wanda was a fix-it woman who could repair or make just about anything. Her brothers affectionately referred to her as “My Brother Kaye.” Wanda was a very comical person especially at all family gatherings. She was a free spirit; she loved to cook and create new recipes. Wanda was trivia savvy and was knowledgeable on most subjects. She really loved music. When she spoke you knew exactly what she meant and how she felt. Wanda worked many jobs from age 18 to 55 including: Flint Truck & Bus, a division of General Motors, both Genesee and Washtenaw County Family Independence Agencies (Dept. of Social Services and Dept. of Human Services), 911 Dispatch Operator for the Flint Police Dept., 67th District Court, among other numerous jobs. Sheleaves to cherish her loving memory: her pride and joy, loving son, Shauron Stinnett, whom she loved dearly; mother, Mary Lee Stinnett; 4 sisters, Barbara White, Linda Stinnett, Jacquetta Hall and Verna (Larry) Kenebrew; 4 brothers, Donald Stinnett, Barton (Felecia) Stinnett, Troy (Michelle) Stinnett and Harlen (Janet) Stinnett; 5 aunts; 4 uncles; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including, Fred Littlejohn. Ms. Stinnett was preceded in death by her father, Cleveland Stinnett, Sr.; brothers, Harvey, Bruce and Cleveland Stinnett, Jr.; grandparents and other relatives. The family would like to thank McLaren-Flint staff, The Cancer Center, ER and ICU and a special thank you to Assistant Nurse Manager, Kathi Scruggs and the staff of 11 South Oncology.
