HARRIS-WILLIAMS, Mrs. Bertha - Age 55, made her transition, Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30am Monday, September 10, 2012 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11am. Bishop Robert E. Underwood, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Family and Friends will assemble in the Chapel 10:30 Monday. Mrs. Williams will in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10am-6pm Sunday.
Minister Bertha Ree Harris-Williams was born July 8, 1957 in Crawford, Mississippi, the daughter of Ezell and Frances Harris. She was a resident of Flint and was a faithful member of Break Through Ministries of Jesus Christ and served as an Usher and later became a Minister under the leadership of Bishop Robert E. Underwood. Bertha attended Plum Grove Elementary and Motley High School in Columbus, Mississippi. She also attended Mary Holmes College in West Point, Mississippi for 2 years. Min. Williams was employed at Meijers for over 18 years. She loved Church, reading the Bible, listening to Gospel music, children painting, decorating and spending time with her family and friends. Bertha was a loving and caring person and always willing to help others. Although she had no children of her own; she was a mother to many. Gone to soon.
She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Henry Williams; 4 stepdaughters, Kisha Williams, Adria Williams, all of Flint, Nakita Brackett of Arizona and JaQuinna Williams of Milwaukee; 4 stepsons, Mario (Meka) Singleton of Flint; Keyonta Williams of Atlanta, GA, Adrian (Akakiela) Williams of Decatur, IL and Henry Williams III of Milwaukee, WI; 16 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Helen Jean Harris and Mary Nancy Harris, both of Crawford, MS; 5 brothers, Willie Blake of Columbus, MS, Roy Clemons of Orlando, FL, Issac and Sammie Lee Harris of Crawford, MS and Lonzell Harris of Columbus, MS; mother-in-law, Olla Bell Matthews of Flint; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Gilbert of Sacramento, CA and Jewel Williams of Flint; brothers-in-law, Eddie Calms of Crawford, MS, Lee Williams of Flint and Matthew (Sharonda) Williams of Atlanta; a host of nieces and nephews other relatives and friends including special friends, Dorothy Standokes and Joy Norton.
Min. Williams was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Brenda Calmes; special cousin, Essie Peat; father-in-law, Henry Williams, Sr. and sister-in-law, Daphne Gilbert.
