HODO, Mrs. Addie L. - Age 88, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Kith Haven Nursing Home. Family hour 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1083 E. Stewart St., with funeral service at 12noon. Pastor Lewis Randolph, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Hodo will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 12noon-8p.m. Monday.
Mrs. Addie Lee (Coleman) Hodo was born August 16, 1924 in Pickens County Alabama to her parents; Mr. Willie James Coleman and Ms. Lula D. Bizzle. Mrs.Hodo attended public schools in Alabama. She married Mr. William Lee Hodo on June 28, 1942 in Columbus, Mississippi. From this union 2 children were born. By 1950 she, her husband and children relocated to Flint. In 1955 Mrs. Hodo started working at DoBoys Donuts on Industrial Ave. After 15 years of employment there, she then joined the staff at McLaren Hospital and retired after 13 years of service. Prior to illness, Mrs. Hodo was a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years. She served in a variety of auxiliaries including the Missionary Department, Senior Choir and Sunday School. She was known for being an elegant dresser; beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. Mrs. Hodo was an excellent cook, wife, mother, homemaker and friend. She loved beautiful flowers and often received compliments from neighbors about her colorful bouquets.
She leaves to cherish her memory: loving husband of 70 years, Deacon William Lee Hodo; son, James (Floice) Hodo; daughter, Willa (Gilbert) Hairston of Flint; grandson, Pastor James (Deitria) Hodo Jr. of Flint Twp.; granddaughter, Monica (James) Campbell of Flint; 3 great-grandchildren, Erykah Hodo of Saginaw Michigan, Makenzi Hodo and DeArio Johnson of Flint; sister, Mary Collins of Columbus Mississippi and other loving relatives and friends including special longtime friends, Lonzo & Geraldine Rushing, Rufus & Ella Polk and Mrs. Jean Latchison.
Mrs. Hodo was preceded in death by parents and 3 grandchildren: Edward, Lori & Eric Hodo.
