SMITH, Mr. Commie - Age 67, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 11a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12noon. Pastor Patrick W. Sanders, Sr., officiating. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11am Tuesday. Mr. Smith will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home 906 W. Flint Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8 pm.
Mr. Commie Lee Smith was born November 19, 1944 in Cordele, Georgia, the son of Sammie Smith and J. C. Riley. He was a resident of Mt. Morris, MI for 45 years. Commie was a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church since 1969 and served on the Men’s Usher Board and Security Team. He was employed at Grand Blanc Metal Center, a division of General Motors for 45 years, retiring in 2006 and a member of the Amvets. Commie was a proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He served in the United States Army from 1963-1967. Commie was married to his wife, Bettie Sue, proudly since 1968, to his union 4 children were born. He loved to travel, watch baseball and spending time with his family.

Morris, MI; daughter, Teresa Smith of Flint; 2 sons, Tremayne (Monique) Smith of Gahanna, OH and Terry Smith of Flint; 9 grandchildren, Tierra Smith, Tyana Smith, Keon Smith, Kevin Roland, Jr., Dequintes Smith, Ariyanna Smith, Macaiah Smith, Tremayne Smith, Jr. and Tara Thompson; 2 great-grandchildren, Tyrion McMillian and Nyana Smith; sister, Michelle Riley of Riverside, CA; brother, Willie James (Mary Ann) Smith of Flint; 5 nieces, Mary Jane (Jones) Armstrong of Phoenix, AZ, Kiki (Leonard) Branch of Norcross, GA, Zina Lowe of Phoenix, AZ, Walterene (Henry) Blocker of Norcross, GA and Pamala (Kendal) Reddic; 7 nephews, Michael Lowe all of Flint, Willis Lowe of Green Bay, WI, Anthony Lowe of Norcross, GA, Lee (Sharon) King, Jr., Terrence (Mia) Allen, all of Flint, Kevin Allen of Dallas, TX and Ronald (Nita) Rutledge of Tuscaloosa, AL; 2 aunts, Lottie Mae Reese and Ethel Richardson; uncle, James Smith, all of Cordele, GA; sister-in-law, Mamie (Aaron) Allen of Grand Blanc, MI; a host of other relatives and friends.
