It is with great sadness that we announce her death at the age of 74 on May 15, 2012 at the Baycrest Hospital in Toronto, after a long battle with cancer. Mary is survived by her brother Joseph of Sudbury, her sister Katy of Toronto and her sister-in-law Pierette (Nick, deceased) of Sudbury, also her nephew Christopher and his wife, Beth (Loach) of North Bay and her brand new grand niece Mikayla. She was very close to her cousin Matt Dasovich (deceased) of Timmins and Mary Grcevic (Matt) of Niagara Falls and her two children Joseph (Olga) and Mary Sekulich (Ivica) and their children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father Yura and mother Lujka some years ago. Mary graduated from Schumacher High School, and spent most of her working life as secretary and then manager of the McIntyre Community Building before retiring. Mary enjoyed curling, golf, travelling with her sister, and especially enjoyed visiting the various casinos in her travels. Mary was a long time resident of Schumacher and was a proud citizen of the Schumacher community and of the Croatian Hall. She really missed the north and her friends when she had to move to Toronto for health reasons in 2010. She especially missed her morning "coffee club" at the McIntyre Coffee shop, and her lunches with the girls in the "lunch bunch". She always regretted that she was not able to return to the north to say goodbye to her friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday June 9, 2012 in the chapel of LESSARD-STEPHENS Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on saturday June 9 from 10 am - 11 am. Remembrance donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. She will by sadly missed by her family and friends.
